Society’s obsession with making disabled kids look as “normal” as possible lead to years of pain and exhaustion that were completely unnecessary, because I was told if I could walk I shouldn’t even consider using a wheelchair at all.
Now I do use one when I need one, and my quality of life has skyrocketed, yet medical professionals still tell me that I’m “limiting” myself by choosing to use a wheelchair when I need to.
